Feroce scored an endorsement from the Burrillville GOP Town Committee on Monday night, which allows him to enter the GOP state convention on Wednesday evening with some momentum.

The event doubled as his official kickoff announcement as well as a celebration of his 50th birthday.

Feroce emphasized that he’s a self-made-man. Feroce rose from an immigrant who struggled in school and worked odd jobs, but used grit and tenacity to become a Military officer, a RI state senator, and ultimately, the CEO of one of the most successful Rhode Island companies of the last 25 years.

The Republican candidate for Governor claimed that his opponents aren’t thinking big. He said that Rhode Islanders expect too little from their government. And he said that in Rhode Island, in most cases, only people connected to the state government are successful.

One of the Feroce supporters in attendance expressed his displeasure with Governor Gina Raimondo.

Feroce, who is the subject of lawsuits over his investments at Benrus, addressed his struggles in recent year. Feroce portrayed them as setbacks that he’ll be able to overcome.

“You’re going to take my mansion? OK. So what? I’ll have three more of those in two years,” said Feroce.

He cast himself as the candidate who will reform Rhode Island quickly, and effectively.

“There’s no such thing as gradual change,” he said.

In previous speeches, Feroce promised to eliminate the income tax, inventory tax, and make Rhode Island a right-to-work state.

“There’s nobody–no one, who has as much experience as I do,” Feroce said.
