Ponaganset High School and Ponaganset Middle School are currently on lock down after school officials received gun threats earlier today.
Parents received calls earlier this morning alerting that the two North Scituate schools were under lock down earlier this morning. The situation occurs just two days after hundreds marched in Providence against gun violence and hundreds of thousands marched at various cities throughout the country.
Police traced the origins of the threatening phone calls that were made to the schools and arrested a 12-year-old juvenile male.
At around 11:15 am, police determined that there was no danger to the schools. They were subsequently reopened. The child was not a student at the schools. He will be referred to The Family Court on a charge of “bomb threats or similar false reports”.
