William Shatner is making a public appearance at the Providence Performing Arts Center on Saturday, May 12th at 7:30 PM, following a screening of “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.” Famously known for portraying Captain James T. Kirk in the “Star Trek” series and films, Shatner will share behind-the-scenes stories of his time as the captain of the Starship Enterprise, holding a question-and-answer session after the movie. This is not the first time Shatner has visited the Ocean State; he served as the moderator for a “Star Trek” panel at the sixth annual Rhode Island Comic Con last November.
With a successful career over the past 50 years, the award-winning actor, producer, director and writer (now age 87) starred in the original “Star Trek” franchise, spawning seven feature films, including “Star Trek V: The Final Frontier,” which he directed. In addition, he is known for appearing in the “Twilight Zone,” playing Sgt. T.J. Hooker in the “T. J. Hooker” series, the lawyer Denny Crane on “The Practice” and “Boston Legal,” for which he won Emmy awards and a Golden Globe, and also recorded an album of spoken-word renditions of popular songs.
Tickets for the event ranges from $29.50 to $69.50 with few VIP tickets for $150, which includes a photo opportunity after the show. They can be purchased online at ppacri.org, over the phone at (401) 421-2787 or at the PPAC box office. For more information, visit ppacri.org.
